Summer Tour of South Korea
Redwood Meadows Tae Kwon-Do members enjoyed an amazing summer tour of South Korea - the homeland of Tae Kwon-Do. The trip included a demo and training session with members of the Korean National Team at Yong In University; training at the ITF HQ Center of Excellence in Sejong City; two days at the Taekwondowon, the beautiful national training center in the mountains of Muju; and a visit to the Kukkiwon, World TKD Headquarters in Seoul.
With our wonderful group of 34 people, we laughed, trained, and toured together over 14 days celebrating the years of dedication and passion we have for Tae Kwon-Do.
We thank UTTC - United Traditional Tae Kwon-Do Canada and Grandmaster Gibson and Master Nonomura for creating this opportunity and Mr. Jason Webb and Downunder Travel for making it happen. Cheers to all the family members for coming along and making this trip extra special.
This visit is a celebration of Grandmaster JJ Lee who passed away earlier this year. We owe him the ultimate credit as our pioneer. In the 1960s and 70s, Mr Lee introduced Tae Kwon-Do to Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong and very lucky for us, to Calgary and area.
The tour was a rich cultural opportunity to visit the birthplace of Tae Kwon-Do particularly as we prepare to celebrate 30 years of sharing the knowledge passed down to us by Grandmaster Lee.
